The goal of CCK’s Children’s Ministry (CM) is to supplement and reinforce the efforts of parents in teaching their children, while enabling the parents to participate in worship and engage in the preaching of the Word of God.
In 2013, we began using the Gospel Story for Kids Curriculum. This curriculum is saturated with the gospel, walks through the Bible one story at a time, and offers devotions for families to use at home. We are excited about the devotions in the books Long Story Short and Old Story New (available at the CCK Bookstore or online), because:
- The devotions are easy to use, preplanned, and take 5-10 minutes each
- Families and the church move at the same pace through the Bible
- Each week families will focus on the gospel in each and every story
- Most weeks follow along with the Gospel Story OT and Gospel Story NT devotional, except for holiday weeks.
We are also very excited about our new curriculum for 4th and 5th grade, New City Catechism. This curriculum is made up of 52 questions and answers that walk through the fundamentals of what we believe about God and the Bible. Our hope is that children will age out of our Children’s Ministry with a rooted understanding about who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
In the preschool curriculum, three- to five-year-old children are introduced to God’s big plan of salvation in Jesus Christ as they learn key Bible stories in the preschool curriculum. Each lesson equips teachers to bring Christ to preschoolers with the help of a lesson snapshot, simple object lessons, coloring sheets, and easy-to-follow instructions.
Designed for first- to third-grade children, the lower elementary curriculum takes a more detailed look at how each of these Bible stories connects to the gospel. Through age-appropriate object lessons, activities, and coloring sheets, teachers can help young elementary school children to see Christ in the Old and New Testaments.
The New City Catechism Curriculum features 52 engaging lessons developed from the questions and answers of The New City Catechism, designed to help children in fourth and fifth grade learn the core doctrines of the Christian faith in a Sunday school, classroom, or homeschool setting.
